Reporting a found cat, dog, rabbit or other animal in the Witney area

Please note:
Do not use this section to let us know that you have found an animal you have reported as missing (simply leave a comment on your 'lost report' to do this). This section is for reporting a stray animal that you have found that is not your own.

Required information

If you've found a stray animal you can use Animal Finders to report it. Please have the following information to hand:

  • All the basic details of animal such as species and breed (if you know it)
  • A photograph of it if possible - this is really helpful
  • Details of where you found it

Accidents and animal deaths

We'd like you to report any animal that you may have found that's deceased. Maybe you've found a cat or a dog by the side of the road. In these situations, it's important that we try to locate the owners and let them know.

Of course, it's probably best that you don't upload a photo - that could be very distressing for the owners and other visitors to the website to see. Please select the appropriate option from the 'Health' menu when you're logging your report. Thank you.

Found a dog? Know the law:

If you've found a stray dog you are obliged by law to report it to the Council Dog Warden or the police.

It's a criminal offence not to report a stray dog and it may also cause you problems should you want to adopt it later.
